Div 1
Perennial contenders The Mescalitos and Mi6 are leading the charge, both on 21 points. The Mescies have rallied after a slow start and are sitting on a 7-2 record with 121 runs for and 91 against. Also on 21 points are Mi6 (7-3) have racked up an impressive 210 runs, more than 60 clear of the next highest-scoring team.
The Mob (5-2), newcomers in Div 1 for 2024, have quickly made their presence felt and are proving they can hold their own. They are sitting on 15 points, alongside Meteors Black (5-3) and Mouse Rat (5-4). Mob, Meteors, and Mouse Rat are all within striking distance of the top spot, demonstrating an extremely high likelihood that a team beginning with an M will get the W this season.
Meanwhile, a three-way battle to avoid relegation is shaping up between Coyotes, LNZ, and the recently-promoted Mezcalitos Nino’s. The Coyotes (2-5) and LNZ (2-8) are both on 6 points, and Ninos (1-7) are just behind with 3 points, and a couple of games in hand over LNZ.
Will Mi6 or Mescies continue their reigns with one of them finishing in top spot? Will challengers Meteors Black, who almost edged their way into the top spot last year make a late-season run? Will recent Div 1 arrivals The Mob or Mouse Rat prove that there’s a new sheriff in town? Will Div 1 mainstays Coyotes hang on for another year? Will LNZ make a late-season push? Will Ninos manage to hang on to their spot in Div 1? Stay tuned…
Div 2
The Fuzzy Ducks have set out to prove that their 2023 relegation from Div 1 was just a blip and are leading the league with an outstanding 8-1 record and 24 points.
The Odd Sox (5-4), who have often finished in third place sitting in second with 15 points, with SPAM (4-4-1) on 13 points nipping at their heels. Just behind them all on 12 points are recently promoted Soft Boiled (4-4), Div 2 mainstays The Pirates (4-5) and the recently relegated Dazzlers (4-5).
Currently in the relegation zone, but only a couple points behind the mid-tier logjam are BBG Muppets (3-4-1) on 10 points. Also in danger of relegation are Game of Throws, who are currently on 6 points.
Div 2 is always chaotic, and this year is no different. Will The Ducks fly straight back to the top division? And if so, will this finally be the OddSox’s year to take the plunge? Or will SPAM swipe the second promotion slot? Will Soft Boiled, Pirates and Dazzlers remain at mid-table? Any of them could still make a run at promotion. And will Game of Throws and BBG Muppets be headed down to Div 3, or will either of them manage a late-season charge? Time will tell!
Div 3
After a tough couple of years, the Private I’s (8-2) are sitting on 24 points. Another team looking to rebound after a challenging couple of years are Raiders Gold (7-1), who have played two fewer games than PIs and are on 21 points. Just below them are their clubmate Raiders Blue (5-3) and Base Invaders, both on 15 points.
The bottom half of the division is also shaping up to be an interesting battle. Oblivion (3-6) are sitting in 5th on 9 points, with The Mafia (2-5) and recently relegated from Div 2 Cheetahs (2-6) and recently promoted from div 4 Bat Intentions (2-6) all just behind on 6 points.
Will the PIs continue their run? How many Raiders teams will gain promotion? Will the Base Invaders continue their run of recent promotions? Which of Oblivion, Mafia, Cheetahs or Bat Intentions will be able to stay up in the Majors? The last half of the season is shaping up with a lot of interesting battles!
