We’re more than halfway through the season and most teams have firmly settled into their team standings.
Diamond dogs are still holding the top spot for division 4, with their only defeats coming from Parrots and Golden Sombreros (bet both teams left those games feeling swish). The Sombreros took this opportunity to level the playing field after their defeat earlier this season but Parrots still have a chance in the coming weeks, to defend their home territory and be the only team to prove victorious this season, against the D-Dogs.
Last year’s relegated team Meteors Purple are having a tough time this season and it’s looking like they’re going to be joining the likes of division 5 next year. However, Thundercats remain the only team not to have played against them this season so who knows – there may still be some wind beneath their sails and a game victory lurking in the horizon.
In division 5, Flyballers and Battitude are still neck and neck, with a rematch between the two, due to take place next week. We wouldn’t be surprised if they both end up being promoted next year and if so – what a feat it would be. Meanwhile, High Voltage are finally on the leader board with 3 wins under their belts and slowly but surely creeping away from the bottom of the leaderboard. Their relegated partners from last year, Tecumsehs are now keeping the bottom spot warm and with only a handful of games left, will they be able to crawl back up the board or will they be relegated yet again, to make space for another development team?
Speaking of which, division 6’s standings have changed drastically since this last report. Base Jam are finally getting their wishes and are at the top of the board, tied together with Raiders Red who were relegated from division 5 last year. It may have taken a few games for them to get up to speed on how we do things in division 6, but Raiders Red have definitely used this opportunity to recoup and come back strong for the remainder of the season.
Bangers and Smash also started incredibly strong this season but have (metaphorically) eased their foot off the pedal, and securing their position in the mid point of the leaderboard. Raiders indigo and Raiders Orange remain at the bottom of this years standings, with the former having yet to secure a winning game on the board – but there’s still time, perhaps one of their Raiders Derby matches will finally be in their favour.
Overall, this season has been a fun one despite the random heatwave and the rain that just won’t quit. Everyone has come into this season as hyped up as ever and the supportive nature of each player has ensured that each team has access to ringers who can step in at a moments notice. We know that the minors teams have had to call on ringers the most, so thank you to all who have lent a helping hand – we’re sure the captains appreciate it.
Here’s to the remaining weeks of the season!
